## Artillery X4 Sidewinder Pro Xavier is my Artillery Sidewinder X4 Pro. Purchased like-new from Artillery in April of 2025 for $100. I use it for straightforward, single-color PLA prints. Although this model is listed as supported by SimplyPrint, the version of Klipper provided by Artillery doesn't support the SimplyPrint plugin. I had to bodge on OctoPrint instead. ### Current Mods - Software: [OctoPrint](https://octoprint.org/) installed via [KIAUH](https://github.com/dw-0/kiauh) - Runs on the Makerbase controller - Used to connect to [[SimplyPrint]] - SimplyPrint installs two OctoPrint plugins - If OctoPrint is running, the screen locks up and isn't usable. - Hardware: none (stock) ### History - 2025-04-28: Printer arrived - 2025-05-08: Installed OctoPrint (via KIAUH) - 2025-06-14: Cleared an extruder jam (Artillery’s repair videos helped) - [Artillery repair videos (channel)](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCty24k7sI0dQMiLVssypKtg/videos) - [Artillery tutorial #1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9Nihv0KN9Y) - [Artillery tutorial #2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hF0VNJ6wEsc) - [Artillery tutorial #3](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljSG0wN6ViU) - 2025-06-20: Replaced the hotend after a heat creep clog - 2025-06-25: Extruder clogged again - 2025-07-09: Z-offset set too low → nozzle clogged - 2025-09-20: Cleared extruder clog; nozzle appears blocked - Next step is nozzle replacement or a cold pull ### Planned Upgrades - [Infinity Flow S1](https://infinityflow3d.com/products/infinity-flow-s1-automatic-filament-loader) automatic filament reloader - Convert to accept Bowden tubes for filament path - Design/print a cowl - Design/print a housing for the filament sensor - I'm considering an upgrade to Mainline Klipper. This [upgrade is rather involved and unmaintained](https://wiki.evilazrael.de/en/artillery-sidewinder-x4-mainsail). ### Current State I configured the printer for PLA with a 0.4 mm nozzle (I swap to a 0.6 mm nozzle when needed). I’m currently addressing a suspected clog in the nozzle. My next step is either a nozzle swap or a cold pull. ### Build Log - 2025-04-28: Unboxed and inspected; verified cables/fasteners - 2025-05-08: Set up OctoPrint via KIAUH; confirmed network control > [!note]- Colophon > ![[Printer Naming#Xavier]]
