## Sovol SV08
I bought this printer used from Sovol directly. It was a good price and I hope it will be a good value.
### Current Mods

### History
Printer purchased in July of 2025.
#### 2025-07-13
After using the printer for a short while, the left-rear z-axis stopped moving. After a few hours of debugging and tearing down the printer, I found a factory-installed screw had come loose and jammed between an extrusion and a pulley. Tightening the screw is all it took to fix it. I hope there was no permanent damage done to the motor or belt.

My first mod for this printer is getting rid of that filament spool holder. This involves two components: [Infinity Flow S1](https://infinityflow3d.com/products/infinity-flow-s1-automatic-filament-loader) and [runout sensor mounting bracket](https://www.printables.com/model/1333806-sovol-sv08-filament-runout-sensor-45-degree-bracke).
#### 2025-08-17
I added [filament cutters](https://infinityflow3d.com/products/automatic-filament-cutter) to the Infinity Flow S1.
#### 2025-10-12
The Infinity Flow has been nothing but trouble and has caused more large prints to fail than to succeed. It doesn't always feed filament past the runout sensor. It triggers the runout sensor so the printer doesn't know to pause.
#### 2026-01-05
Added the [# SV08 Filament Anti-Tangle Detection Module](https://www.sovol3d.com/products/sv08-filament-anti-tangle-detection-module)
#### 2026-02-03
I have been experiencing frequent MCU Overflow crashes in Klipper while printing complex models. After significant research and too much time, I decided how to address it. I would disable the Power Loss Recovery feature added by Sovol. So far, I haven't had any further failures since the change. The exact lines in the [bug](https://github.com/OrcaSlicer/OrcaSlicer/issues/8739#issuecomment-3620880825) don't match the version I have. I had to figure it out on my own.
#### 2026-02-17
The printer started slipping on its belts when doing a bed mesh. I haven't had time to investigate yet, but I suspect loose belts.
### Planned Upgrades
- I'm going to upgrade the Infinity Flow to an S1+ to see if that helps
### Current Status
This printer is down due to shifting during bed mesh.
There are a couple of quality-of-life issues I would like to address at some point.
- Toolhead can't sense when the filament has run out
- Infinity Flow S1 sometimes jams on filament runout sensor
- Infinity Flow S1 just stops pushing filament sometimes
- Infinity Flow S1 doesn't let the filament go when it runs out on the input side. The net effect of this is it fools the printer's filament run out sensor to never work.
- I used to store the build plates under the SV08. Any time I accidentally touch the bottom of the printer with a build plate, the printer crashes
